Could anyone be so good as to post a list with which colour paints will fade quicker (oxidise i think the word is?). I'm simply curious about it and would like to know how quick *roughly* my met. gold punto mk2 will fade.

Thanks lads/lasses/whatever!:D

Met gold punto will not oxidise as long as the lacquer is intact. Only thing you need to do is make sure you wax the car a couple of times a year to help protect your lacquer. Other than that, it will last you for the life of the car!

Cheers,
Alan

Solid (non metallic) red is notoriously bad for fading due to it being in the 'wrong' place in the colour spectrum in relation to UV rays. Ask any Ford owner with either 'Sunburst' or 'Radiant' red and if they haven't protected the paint properly their car will be pink - especially the painted plastic bits like colour coded mirrors and boot spoilers etc...

Thanks lads! really good to know! but it means i'm going to have to wash my car a lot as where I am posted at the minute is more like a building site (the roads on camp are really really badly maintained, with all kinds of c**p left on them).

Ah well!
