So I broke one of my gear linkages and replaced them. Ever since I've had a Start/Stop error which I narrowed down to a faulty neutral position sensor from me being heavy handed.

I've replaced the sensor and tried to carry out the learning procedure on MES, but a message pops up saying 'UNKNOWN', and there is no parameter for the status of the neutral position learning in the parameters page, despite what I see online suggesting there should be?

Anyone got any ideas? Have my MOT coming up soon, and it won't pass with the MIL on...

If anyone is interested or has the same issue, I found my solution.

After taking it to an Italian specialist, they found that the gear linkage I used from EuroCarParts was actually the wrong length, and positioned the sensor incorrectly. In addition to this, the new 'genuine' part I bought off eBay was in fact not genuine and was supplying no resistance value to the ECU.

With a new OEM sensor and a bit of modification to the existing gear linkage the car accepted the learning procedure, MIL stayed off and passed MOT.
