Technical P0101 engine code? 1.3 multijet 2009 diesel

So my Fiat 500 had developed an issue where it would start and die out and sometimes start but I would have no throttle response at all, I managed to diagnose it to a bad MAF sensor as I wasn't getting any readings from the MAF and when disconnected the engine would run fine. I bought a new MAF from ebay and although now the car drives fine (does do a small hiccup hesitation at around 2k rpms) after around 15 miles I am getting a P0101 code. So the MAF is new and I can see it readings values on live data on my Ms906 so what would be the next step to check?

Can a bad turbo cause P0101 code? The reason I ask is because on first startup I get some blue smoke (turbo seals) and the car to me doesn't feel as if the turbo kicks in good enough (that may just be me though) speeds I get no issues doing 70mph just feel like there's no turbo kick when coming on boost. So can I suspect a bad turbo to cause P0101 code?

Obviously a worn turbo is not ideal. Worth checking for play in the spindle if you haven't already, to avoid a big failure spoiling your day...

But it may be throwing errors due to inconsistencies in the air volumes/pressures in the different bits of the system. May be worth checking the pipework around the dump valve is all OK and no leaks. Plus pipework more generally.

EBay....maf sensor....... who made the maf sensor?

There are a lot of new but very crap sensors

It's worth checking this pipe at the side of the turbo where it joins, as mine had come apart and gave same symptoms as yours.
Mine is a 1.3 jtd multijet panda
