General Overheating 'cento just purchased

Hi all ,a week since my 1st posting, changed thermostat ,then changed sensor,,have water coming out of both bleed valves,YET STILL THE ENGING IS VERY HOT and the Temp light comes on after 10 miles or so?? The fan works as Ive tested it with 2 wires to the battery but it has not yet cut in ?? The expasion cap just gives a little rush of air whan loosened and the water is hot but NOT steaming but it is a shi**y brown colour??HELP!!!!!Not sure if its ok to keep running it?? replies please P.S the ECU light is fine now and not been on since??Is there an easy way to wire the fan on permanent??? Thanks

could be the sensor on the inlet manifold it has a blue top if i remember correctly? 2 pin makes the injector light and water light come on if its faulty the MAF sensor i htink not the MAP sensor

Hi Gaz do you mean a different sensor NOT the one fitted to the thermostat?? if so exactly where is it??? thanks

Assuming SPi, the sensor for the fan is in the side of the radiator. Its the one that the plug that you short out with a paperclip attaches to.

SPi = single point injection

therefore

MPi = Multi point injection

MAP sensor = Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor

Thanks still not really much wiser?? its an 899cc engine ?? single or multi??,I have been on a 180 mile round trip today temp light on all the way virtually but no steam or overheat just undone expansion cap ,plenty of water in tank and engine running fine allthough feels & smells warm is this normal??Also the warning light fades in and out ?? in traffic brighter on the road 50 mph goes off is this cold air passing over rad?? cheers are the lights meant to react to temprature changes??

If its 899 its single point injection. Its not had a change of instrument cluster has it?

It sounds like you've got a temperature sender from a car with a gauge.
