I was driving to work and it cut out. I called the breakdown people who towed me to a garage. After further inspection by the garage, they say the cam belt snapped and I have bent some valves and it will cost about £1000 to fix

Not having this sort of money laying about, I have had to get it scrapped. I am sad to see her go. She has been a good motor and I have many happy memories of her. Ah well, it's back to my old Sierra that's been sitting on the drive for 5 months

Nasty, Unlucky. Shame, these engines are good, but do bend everything when the belt goes and damages vavle guides.

Yea tell me about it! Just had a mechanic look at it and the belt hasn't totally gone. It's just missing about 7 teeth in a row. Appears as if something has seized but he is going to look at it further and take the "head" off tomorrow.

69,000 (rounded down to nearest).

Shouldnt have gone for 3k more miles, but I was going to get done at the end of this month lol. Now instead of a belt change, I have to get new valves and stuff
