General Outside Temp Display and Sender Unit

Hi, does anybody know if it is possible to retro fit an outside temp sender unit to a new shape 2.3 ducato? Where is it mounted and if fitted will it be recognised by the on board computer system? My van is an import and does not appear to be fitted with the above temp sensor.
