I'm sure a little while ago somebody posted on here that they'd gone and got themselves a VW caddy for a project vehicle? Any ideas who that was? Because I've just done the same!

The best part is, as I'm in the middle of quite a bit of building/gardenning work on my house I managed to convince the girlfriend that it would be cheaper to buy a Caddy than keep getting skips to get rid of tree cuttings/ rubble etc and she aggreed!

So it's going to be a bit of a workhorse until I've finished the garden, then I'm going to restore it!
I don't pick it up til Monday, I'll post some photos when I get it! Not expecting it too be much to look at atm, I only paid £180 for it.

There's some guy on the Caddy forum called Amit, who's from Ruislip (Anyone remember him from BOO? I'm sure he was from Ruislip too??) I've asked him if he's the same guy who used to be on here, that would be a coincidence! Doubt it though

That was Lee...aka RaginHGT, he used to have the Blue HGT with the 18" Wolfrace Matrix's on.

Nice one, what are you planning for it?

Maybe a 1.8T or VR6 engine transplant? ;)

Ben, I still have Amit on Messenger. Let me know if you want his details :)

dont tell the g/f, but most tips wont let pickups in as they think you are commercial and so should take the waste to a commercial place.

I got a permit from my local council but as it is a comppay truck i had to prove who owned it, that i had permission to use it for transporting personal waste and that the company had a commercial waste contract in place! Then it still took 3 months to sort!

Not to **** on you fire. lol

funnily enough i went to the tip 2day and got turned away :(

Just cut my mates lawn and thought id put the gras and bits of hedge in the local skip...

They wouldn't let me in with my Landrover and 10ft trailer pilled heigh :(

told them it was out of my mates garden but they weren't having it...... no wonder people just dump garden waste down dikes/ ditches or side of roads!

Im lucky tho, just added it too the compost heap back home... but i thought id try my luck :)

Damnit! I hope I dont have that much bother!
It turned out the guy wasn't the same Amit! I could have sworn he was from Ruislip, or somewhere round there!

I plan to lower and smooth it, paint it maybe a creamy colour and fit a beige leatehr interior and some polished little (but wide) alloys.

But for the time being it will have to be an old workhorse. Lowering it probably wont make it that usable!

they are classy, my cousin had one for his farm work, he eventually sold it when it had rust holes in it big enough to put your head in and the foot wells filled with water when driving in the rain. It still ran like a dream and he go £200 for it so i don't think you've done bad at all!

Rat stylee Ben,

its the future!

When my mate gets "ratter" (transporter van with badge moved about) complete I shall post up piccys, Subaru legacy engine transplant in progress :)
