I need some new games to play at home...

My Spec...
AMD XP3200+
1024mb RAM (DDR400)
160gb x 2 HDD
256mb Radeon 9800 Pro Ultimate

I think i have a half descent PC, so i think any game should work ok.

Let me know your thoughts, i am not a big fan of the First Person Shooters, but i did like Far Cry (DVD)...

Daz

thats a great spec mate, you said you werent keen on fps but the call of duty series are awesome. Racing wise colin mcrae 2005 is mint and the latest splinter cell is good, rpg wise rome total war is supposed to be good but wont be pushing your pc and again doom 3 will look amazing on that spec but is another FPS. Pro evolution soccer 4 is coming out on pc anytime as is fifa 2005. Sims 2 if thats your thing and there are many more, a good time for pcs at the moment

enjoy

Ryan

There is a new Grand Theft Auto comming out soon. Also there is Need for speed underground 2 out soon. Best in my opinion is Doom3 but Half life 2 will give it a run for its money, when it comes out.

You have mentioned your spec but you have not mentioned the main games part of your PC - Graphics card. Withi this spec and a crap G card then done expect much fancy

OK just read post again. Nice card. Doom 3 will test this and also far cry :( I will go hang my head in shame for not notising

here are the games i play all the time !

3\ total club manager 2004 (i have 2005 pre ordered)

5\ ut2004

i wouldent recomend fifa2005 it is dogwank completly !

doom3 is very good but repetitive in parts

Thanks for the reply gents...

I didn't actually buy Fifa 2005, i'm borrowing it off a mate (who incidentaly played it twice then uninstalled it...he bought it with one of the manager games, aparently you can manage a team in the manager then play the game in Fifa)

I've got a couple of the Colin McRae games, not got 2005 yet, but (don't want to sound like im bragging) i find them far too easy, so i get bored after a couple of days...

I didnt think the Pro Evolution series was available for the PC?, i thought it was only PS2 :(. I played v3 on a m8's PS2 ages ago and loved it...

Who said Rome total war won't push my PC?...I still have Medival Total war still installed, and at full detail and high res with 10,000+ men fighting it out, believe me it pushes my PC...lol

Vice City is excellent (especially when you can drive round in a personalised white HGT ;)), can't wait for the next one...

I have far cry, really enjoyed it, the graphics are awsome especially at high res...

NFS underground 2 i will have on the X-box...

I have one of the old warhammer 40k games (used to be a member of the club :(), i will have to try the latest one...

Thanks again guys, got a few written down now, so its off to the shops in the morning :)

if you like football managment games get championship manager 4 its the dogs

Medal of honor series

brilliant game but very addictive, ive been playing it on and off for about 3 years, only pc game ive got into really.

Most played games on my rig are;-
1) Lock on (modern air combat)
2) Farcry
3) Medal of honour series
4) Call of duty
5) Vietcong

"if you like football managment games get championship manager 4 its the dogs"

chimp manager 4 is very over rated, much like the fifa series it is being sold on brand and not quality it has failed to move with the times and games like total club manager have really opened peoples eyes.

i played chimp manager 4 over 2 days i gave it a chance but in all honesty total club manager 2003/2004 are both far superior games and more fun.

players have fights over sponsorship rights and loose moral, team buses break down costing 10k, you can kick them into touch by doing player talks and really kicking the crap out of them etc, it is just a more realistic game overall and the cold feel of chimp manager is certanly not appealing once you have played total club manager.

and in 2004 you can even get a girlfriend get married and have kids, buy a boat/car holiday home etc even gamble in the stocks and shares if you wish. you can do as much in the game as you want or as little.

but doesnt that defeat the object of the game. when i want to play a game. i want to manage my team to win. not kick and beat ppl. worry about buses breaking down. it might not go in to the depth of total manager, but the champman series has by far the bigger database. and is more enjoyable to me than any other managing game. except arsenal football manager (hoping it going to be good as i just ordered this)

like i said Smee it is upto you how much you are involved, you can disable all that stuff and just have a bog standard manager game.

my point is total club manager at least has that option chimp manager is found wanting

the 3d match view mode on tcm is fantastic as is the text mode the cm one is very dated.

the overall objective in both games is the same ot create a team that owns and wins games comfortably with a good youth system goos stadium and regular income.

i just think personally tcm does all this and more wheras cm is just about doing the basics.

have you played TCM ?

ohh and i agree cm4 has a better database of players a mate of mine's little brother is in the bolton school boy team or he was when the game was released, he isnt now, and he is on the game, lol

i'm not a fan of computer games myself. but i play (if thats the right word) MS flight simulator 2002 pro edition.

you actually have to come up with flight plans use nav charts etc
and if you are REALLY into it, you can, via the internet, make your own virtual airline.

i have downloaded several (free) add-on aircraft and scenery. out of the box it has,
Bell 206B JetRanger III helicopter
Cessna 172S Skyhawk SP
Cessna 182S Skylane
Cessna Skylane RG
Cessna 208 Caravan on Amphibious Floats
Cessna 208 Grand Caravan
Boeing 737-400
Boeing 747-400
Boeing 777-300
Extra 300S-Patty Wagstaff's aerobatic airplane
Learjet 45 business jet
Mooney Bravo
Raytheon BE58 Baron
Raytheon/Beech King Air 350
Schweizer 2-32 sailplane
Sopwith Camel

sweet as ill buy the little nipper lol. i playied it ages ago but i didnt get on with it maybe i need to try it again on xbox lol

Smee

its a good game that. me and my mate went from gatwick to australia forgot to plan a route so went route 1. untill our fuel got low..... no biggy on the radar says tehres a run not to far away!!!!! only that the runway was only the size of a 747 in length so landing 1 was never going to happen.
