After completely screwing up my HD last week trying to merge partitions, on reformatting, it only let me call my drive 'F:' So annoyingly my main drive, Windows, etc is all on F: (Causing loads of problems with some software (Quicktime for example) that looks for C: and doesn't understand when it can't find it.

I know this is stuck as it is now, unless I reformat again and call it C: (If it will let me) Can I be arsed? Can I F***! So at the mo I'm sticking with an F: Drive only!

Anyway, it also could only find 120GB of the 200GB drive, so now I'm all reinstalled, I want to enlarge the drive to the full 200MB using Partition Magic.

Does anyone know if it will let me enlarge my primary drive? Or will that screw up the boot info like before?

First, make sure you update Windows XP to SP2. This will ensure that it see's the entire drive. A problem with the original release pre SP1 meant it only saw the first 120GB. It also makes sure you are up to date with all the latest security and bug fixes. Don't listen to any bad reports you hear about SP2. It's solid, stable and only anally retentive geeks bemoan it as they have to have something to blame Bill Gates for ;)

Once you've done that, partition away.

I would strongly advise that you wipe the drive and make sure it is set at C: drive as some, although only a few, programs assume the main drive is C and have problems if it isn't.
