Has anyone (apart from me) had the misfortune to have been infected(as it were)with the Spy Sheriff Win32 virus that defaults your IE Home Page.

That's what you get hunting for keygens I suppose.

thats the worst part about places like serials.ws etc, half of them come with free viruses :(

I know - this one was a swine too; nothing I could get my hands on would get rid of it.

Auto Clave Disk Wiper out and hunt the XP disc. Never mind, it's a lot better for a strip down and reinstallation.

nothing better than a fresh install :D

hehe i should really do this but i got so many hard drives to manage :D but since i got the new components i wanna get them at full speed with no bottlenecks of a dirty hard drive :D

I've got two hard drives running - well "had" tw ohard drives. One is full of music. nearly all my cd's (not quite sure why), but I took it out after the reinstallation.

PC runs like lightening now. But for how long, I wonder?

I used to do a fresh installation more or less every 6 months on mine due to the system slowing up. However, its been running sweet as a nut for the past couple of years with no probls.

something disguised to be something else.

geez, dont they teach history in schools anymore?! lol

Just to correct the above post, the poster of which is very particular about correcting everybody else;

The above removal instructions didn't work, either. Norton Internet Security also couldn't cope with it, neither could Macaffee's "Stinger" which usually destroys every evil bug in it's path.

**** happens.

I suggest an nice install of Opera to go with your new windows install, to prevent/reduce the risk of this happening again.

(or firefox if you wish.

Not a bad idea, but I only got it searching for something illicit. A keygen.

Of course, I'm the only person here who would do such a thing, eh?

i have a keygen ill email you if you like? leave ur e-mail and ill send it when i have time

supposed to be every thing, it works for me on all the stuff i have used it with. its has a thign to choose what you want and it does it.

Dont laugh, I had one many years ago called Keygen Factory or someything like that and it worked on like 65% of programs I tried it on. This was about 7/8 years ago though.
