** OT ** Mandatory Daytime Running Lights

Is the population of Sweden too high, because Volvos still have 'permanent' dipped beam as standard!

They probably only sell Volvo's with daytime lights on to other countries to reduce their populations, in the hope of ultimate world domination!!!!!!!!

Aw, bit of a cheap shot Buzz.
I was a biker for many years and certainly no fan of over-regulation in regards to traffic or anything else for that matter - quite the opposite.

You singled out bikes and said THEY should make themselves more visible by using their lights. I just pointed out that all modern bikes DO have their lights on. ;) the coward dig certainly wasn't meant at you mate. Just seemed a bit like saying they should make all car occupants wear seatbelts, when they already do, know what i mean?

I don't know for sure about all modern bigger bikes, but certainly the the bum-fluffed 16-year-olds on slopeds around here often don't have lights on during the daytime
- although I bet they've been encouraged to by their CBT instructors.

tbh i always used to have my bravo lights on dipped anyway, as wimmy says, might as well as they turn on and off themselves with the ignition!

I just did it out of habit (as a biker) and as a bit of a poseur (HID kit on poly lamps hmm) but I would do it on my next motor too anyways methinks.

Isn't Sweden in the dark more than light. ;) And I don't think it's citizens are as arragont and impatient as ourselves, so it's difficult to compare the two on a like for like basis.

And do you really follow the rules that the Highway code suggests? :) I think not. That is, of course, unless you want to play 'internet forum moral highground'. :)

I'm not against the idea as such, more annoyed that the people who make these rules are no doubt jobsworths who think they know whats best for you and I.

I can see toilet role having a Government health warning on every packet soon.

"WARNING, IF USED INCORRECTLY YOU MAY GET **** ON YOU'RE HAND"
:):)

Nannystate.......

I normally agree with nannystate arguments, and in honesty, i'm here nor there about this legislation. I do believe the highway code already recommends use of dipped beam in most driving conditions though?
