You could also go the route of a super light-weight X1/9 successor with a Twin-Charger set up on a 1.2 litre engine? 180bhp and 55mpg?
I'm currently doing a Design degree which I can elect to major in transport design, and I would consider any of the above.
There is so much new technology on the market that it would be possible (money-no-object) to create something seriously fast, seriously economical, and very appealing to enthusiasts.
