*OT* - Graphics Intensive Games

My bruv has just finished building his new PC, even if i do say so myself its the dogs danglies!

We've done some benchmarking tests and its come out pretty high...but to me that doesnt prove anything...

We are after some games to push the system to the limit!

Are they any games that you can recommend to do this?

only 1 game to test it daz thats FARCRY on full graphics if it handles this u got urself a beast

far cry and doom 3 are the best games to test as they use the latest technology and very intensive on the video card.

a good benchmark program is 3dmark 2003, as a referance i get 6200 with the following system with the default test:

Athlon XP 2500 @ 10x220 (440 fsb)
MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR Mobo (Nforce 2)
2 x 256mb Corsair 3200 Memory in dual channel (running at 440 fsb)
Hercules Radeon 9800 Pro

@ Tom - I've been told about DOOM 3...isn't that the game that a graphics card isn't available/good enough to play of full res. and full detail?

@ Anon - Got Battlefield Vietnam, it minces that @ 1024x768

@ Smee - I can play Farcry on my PC on full detail at 1280x1024 without any problems...so i'm sure his new one will cope quite easily

I have only run a test with 3Dmark 2001, i was going to download 2003 but its 178mb!...lol

I got 8885, i think i could get higher as i've been messing with the card's setting, but then again i'm not sure what the difference would be between 2001 & 2003...

cool system, im waiting for pci-express to become more widely available before upgrading mine.

On 3mark 2001 you should be around the 20,000 mark, Make sure in the display settings that AA and AF are off and V-Sync is off too

I know either the AA or AF is on 8x...so that might affect it a bit...but not sure how much, 8,000 -> 20,000 is a big jump...lol

If he's into flight sims, try "Lock On, modern air combat". Should give the system a good test.

Just ran PCmark04, and got about the same (8615)

Must have something set up wrong, me thinks

But just ran Farcry on it...wow what a difference, my PC can run it well at 1280x1024, but on the new PC its like a new game, everything is so much clearer and more fluid...

Not really into flight games...more C&C style games...
