OT - Got a laptop from my dad, and videos are jumpy, help?

OT - Got a laptop from my dad, just an old one to do some work on, and when i try to watch streaming videos online the sound is fine but the image is really jumpy, what do i need to rectify this?

what speed processor? how much ram? and what video card? (guessing intergrated)

go to "control panel"
then "system"

will tell you the basics speed / ram etc.
