http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/regulation/14/made I suggest you read this, it's law. Being 100w bulbs your bulbs will not be marked appropriately and SHOULD NOT be us used. It's pretty simple really.

Yea, but more annoying are those in slow moving traffic who are clearly not paying attention. You see them all the time texting, turning round to tend to their kids or whatever. Take your foot off the brake and they probably think you are on the move again.
It only says should, which means in the eyes of the law it's just a recommendation. As opposed to your bulbs which are just plain illegal.
Ok enough on this now, we've established that using non-E marked bulbs on the road on a car built after the cutoff date is illegal and restating that ad infinitum isn't going to take us anywhere useful.
Let's get back to the topic and focus on people's experience of using bulbs which can legally be fitted.

For some reason though he thinks that because the highway code doesn't make specific reference to bulbs that they're not illegal.
The way I was taught was, the Highway Code is your regulations pertaining to DRIVING.
The legislation (which is LAW, not an interpretation) is regarding VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS (in this case, Lighting) and nothing to do with the HC. Failure to adhere to this will result in penalties from fines, to imprisonment depending on the severity of the breach.
Irrespective if what you interpret the highway code to say, it does not excuse you from flouting the law by fitting illegal bulbs marked for OFF ROAD use only. And before anything is mentioned about MOT's, testers are not able to remove anything from the car to inspect and as most headlights obscure the bulb from view (or that the print on the bulb base is unreadable from the outside of the headlight), then they have to assume it's fine as long as the alignment is within limits. If you have an accident and the Police RTA Investigations branch go over your car, you would be liable for prosecution if found to have illegal parts fitted that were the cause or partly responsible for the accident.
I sincerely hope you don't cause an accident, because this could all come back to bite you on the arse. For your own good, take them out. I'm fairly certain that talk of illegal activity is banned in the forum rules??

Lot of hypocrisy on this forum. Someone being berated for having illegal bulbs fitted (I do not condone the fitting of illegal bulbs) by other members who think it is okay to take pictures with their mobile phones when driving. So much hot air it is unreal. Been a forum member too long methinks.
