Looking to sell my car on again and get a newer one. Looking at the Saxo VTS 16v, the facelift version, in silver or gold. Others options included the 106 GTI or a punto, but not keen on the look of a punto.

Been visiting this forum:

Been doing my research on saxo's, most of the users are not the stereotypical chavvy, halford stick on part buyers, that everyone makes them out to be.

What are your opinions on the VTS?

Thanks in Advance

the problem i am having, is trying to find any of these car that are unmodified. :bang:

Im with you guys, the 106 GTi is more desirable imo

They are basically the same cars but the 106 is slightly rarer and slightly better looking imho

Both motors are very rapid and worth the money.

Thats gunna be pushing it for a 106 GTi, you might be able to source a higher mileage VTS for that price but again it could be tricky.

A mint mk1 106 Rallye can be picked up for the bottom end of your budget and they are nice motors but not as fast as the GTi/VTS. The mk2 106 Ralley also goes for a fair bit of money.

A pretty good Punto HGT can be picked up for around £3k if you can stretch to that.

If not then the 306 XSi and GTi 6 can be picked up for around £2.5k these days iirc

im a fan of the VTS. Nice car to drive.

Prob is finding one that hasnt been ragged to hell and back.

We just got rid of one... almost standard.. but it was having a few issues with cutting out when at lights and stuff

i just had a lot of trouble finding the right gear.... but as has been said, it was prob my driving.... and said paxo was a really high miler than he bought on the cheap, so im blaming it on the overused clutch :D

The juddering of the gear shift probably had something to do with a worn gear linkage bush.

That completely went on my old Clio and the thing used to vibrate its way out of gear at times

im looking at something newer than a 2000 V reg, as i want newer than mine.
Looked at the clio but can only find 1.2 16v, but wanted more performance than that. Hence the VTS.
