General Opening windows from key

Hi there,

A newbie from Holland...
I bought my 1,9 multijet about 6 months ago, and I am very happy with it.
Last car before this one was a Lancia Lybra, had it for > 5 years and 120k, so I had any reason to trust this Fiat. Not disappointed at all!
However, there is this annoying thing which I had several times now (fortunately not in rainy wheather): the windows opening from the key while it is in trouserpocket. Both keys do the same, and seem to be active from as far as about 50 meters....
Nowadays I carefully carry the key inside and give it a save place, but this is off course not possible in all cases (f.i. restaurants).
The manual gives me no hints to switch off this behaviour, but hopefully one of you knows a solution....

This is quite a useful function but as you have found out it can be very annoying when not wanted or accidentally invoked.

It is possible that a Fiat dealer can disable this function.

I've checked FiatECUScan - Croma capabilities and at the moment adjustment/changing of this function is not yet supported.

Go over to FiatECUScan.net, then select "Forum" and then select "Feature Requests" and post your desire there.

If the windows didn't wind down you'd still be unlocking it.

@doofer: you are right, off course, but i really prefer an unlocked car (which cannot be seen, unless one is looking for that) above a car with all windows opened (which is clear for any one), apart from the risk of having the vehicle flooded....

Perhaps the fob buttons are sticking? You have to hold down the button on mine pretty firmly for 2 secs before the windows open. I've never had it happen in error.

I am inclined to agree with the comment by No mean Fiat, I have to hold my button down quite firmly for a couple of seconds to activate the global window opening function, perhaps you should try one of those key holders you attach to your belt. I do have problems occasionally with the trunk opening due to the key fob being pressed accidentally whilst in my pocket. The range on the Fiat key fob seems much longer than most cars, I can unlock mine 50 metres away, most cars I have owned you have to be very close to do this.
