nice metaphor, but flawed, as many are in their use, esp when full facts are ether unknown, or ignored. chas doesn't have the room for the whole car, nor the time to spend sorting its many, many issues out. neither do i. no one wanted the whole car, they wanted bits, as did chas and i, so the decision was made to break her down, recycle what was useful, sell what we could, bin the rest. as we were doing it, we commented on how there would be those who wanted unsalvaged parts after the car was gone, but thems the breaks. we did a pretty good job in time available to rescue a good amount from her, her parts will go on.......
there comes a point where time/money/space/effort contraints make the choice for you, and attempts at pithy backhanders by those not in the know, commentating from the sidelines, make no odds to those who jump in and get on with it.
