England crash out again. Excuses excuses. It's all a load of bollo*

Sven should have been booted out after the last world cup but no, the guy was allowed to carry on.

Lumpalard was as useless as all west ham fans have known for the past 7 years, he didn't do one thing in this world cup that warranted his place in the team.

That cheating scumbag ronaldo needs a really good stamping on. Thats why I'm not a footballer, I hate cheats and the game is full of them. Hopefully he'll be jeered out of the English game or maybe Rooney will will put his lights out.

Utter disappointment as usually, but what can you expect with a Mellon for a manager.

Couple of observations:

1. The ref was about to blow the whistle, until Portugal got possession of the ball and he changed his mind....

2. Rooney seemed to stamp on that guy in the nuts just as he was turning back ( accident ).

3. Our penalty takers are s**t.

I knew we'd loose... England is **** at most sports... we're still living off the 1966 world cup come on it's 40 years on we need to produce something...

The thing is we are one of the best footballing nations in the world but we are hampered by idiots in control. Mclaren will be almost as bad as Sven, he's got no bloody bottle, I could do a better job than both of them for free let alone the millions they get.

I think the biggest letdown was the fact that Walcott never got his chance to show how good he actually is. What's the point in taking him to Germany if he's going to sit on the bench the whole time?

I honestly think that the ref got the decision right about Rooney, it WAS intentional, he couldn't get the ball so he threw a paddy and stomped some guy.

Basically, England will be crap at football for quite some time to come.

Rooney is a bad example of a sportsman for sure. But the look of shock on Rooney's face when he sees what he put his foot on kind of convinces me that he did not intend that.

Not keeping his temper was pretty unforgiveable.

Agreed

That coupled with Beckhams performance in the 2000 World Cup pretty much summarises the reasons I dont follow football - the team are absolutely nothing to be proud of in their unsportsmanly behaviour - regardless of their talent or off-pitch behaviour (which is often put to shame by some fans)

Ronaldo was so annoying - why did all the portugal team need to surround the ref he was already dealing with the situation. i think he used the fact he knows how to wind rooney up from being a team 'mate'.

i think the ref was actually pretty reasonable he didnt give out alot of the calls for 'freekicks' when others would have done and was firm with the players who were making a meal out of falling after they were tackled imo.

it is a shame to see that england couldn't perform when it counted but they did well to play like they did with 10 men i think

well theres always the Euro 2008

England did well with 10 men left, England have some of the best players in the world they just have a crap coach.

We have always been crap at penalties, but i'm suprised we got as far as we did.

now all the car flags can come down!

I found englands attitude of "get through to penalties" a disgrace, they should have tried to win the match not throw all their players in the penalty box defending.

Was that not the commentors?

I thought England held on very well once they went down to 10 men, I feel we might have done better with a 4-4-2 system but I can understand why he went for a 4-5-1 / 4-1-4-1 system.

We should of took more strikers and we would have been fine, bit unlucky for owen to get injuryed but that should be took into account when picking a squad.

I agree that Walcott should have had a run out, Jermaine Dafoe must be wondering what he has to do.

I bet Rooney gives Ronaldo a good kicking in training, I wish refs would book players when they ask for a card to be shown. After all they are allowed to, it is the same thing with diving. Once players get punished for it they will cut down or stop, no ref as the balls to do it though.

David

Ronaldos cheeky 'wink' to a felow portugal player as rooney was sent off made me mad!

I hope ronaldo leaves man utd as he will no doubt get some serious abuse from the fans.

Other than that I think getting to quarter finals is ok for a team that rarely play together & have a pathetic manager.

Terry Butcher for england managers job:slayer:

well i got called into work 2 hours early, i thought it would of been because we were busy (work in a pub) turned out, the superviser that was supposed to be working that called me in decided she wanted to watch the match so called me in. so i didnt get to see nowt! :(

saw the penalties though! loads of balls! was totally silent in our pub after it was all over and one of the barstaff comes over to me and goes "who won then?" and i went bloody hell! look at the atmosphere! who you think!
