On-board diagnostics.

I have just bought an ELM on-board diagnostics interface and cables for use with our cars. It comes with some free software so that you can use it straight away but it's pretty crippled. As I'm a a tight-arse and don't want to splash out on the full software does anyone know if there are any freeware tools out there which will work with this interface? It plugs into the USB socket, not the serial port.

I can only say if for being a tight arse I think youve been very generous for paying what you did for that. UniDiag and other software on might be of some use to you. You nwill find it on yahoo.

The link is to the kit INCLUDING the full software package. I didn't pay that much for it as mine didn't include the full software, only a cut down version.

when you say "our cars" you mean fiat in general or specific model?

need some software with old cars for the rat.
