ok where the hell is the oil pressure switch
as this is another bug thats been with the multi since ive had it
hope u all enjoyed my trouble from my msg yesterday.
the oil light flashes for a while after starting up.
i've got the switch but where on the engine is it
aaaaaaarrrrr help

no switch, only oil pressure sensor. So maybe the sensor fault or after all problems you have a very big problem-too low oil pressure

hey widemouthfrog big thanks for finding
the oil pressure switch.:D
but hell they could of put it in a better place hey.
I'm now thinking how the hell i'm gona do this on my drive
i think. in fact i know its a ramp job.
having read the info though it don't look good.
i might have to live with the flashing light.
anyhow onwards an upwards as they say lol

Having read the comments in your post about the cambelt, and knowing where the oil pressure sensor is, it might be worth looking at the wires that run to the pressure sensor, rather than the sensor itself.

yes the wiring could be the problem. But driving with flashing oil pressure light is like holding a granate without safety pin, it won't explode, but one wrong move and as ta la vista baby. Oil pressure light is the most important in the dashboard.

Giedriusss & widmouthfrog hey thanks i will check the wiring.
its been like this since i've had the multi and am now on the third
oil change.
and its had some stick when i've towed my caravan
believe me iv'e thought on many occations **** its gona go bang in a min.
but hell man that engine it just keeps on going.
and now i've got a new cam belt on.
it wants to be an f1 car lol.
still laughing aside i gota sort it.
thanx guys i'll let you know when i sort it

Hi there. If you hav a nosejob (facelift) diesel, the problem may not be the oil pressure switch.

It might be the Oil Degredation Index needs resetting. This can (I think) only be done via connecting to Fiats computer, or with the paid version of the available software.

It is an index held within the ECU and it doesn't matter how many times you change the oil, the index automatically counts down and unless it is reset within the ECU, the oil light will continue to flash after start up for a while. It'll take longer and longer to go off. I asume eventually the car will go in to limp mode, but I certainly once had mine flashing for about 3 months before getting the index reset.

Remember, you're not turning the oil light off, you're resetting a counter in the ECU which in turn will stop triggering the oil light.

Hope all this makes sense. I did write a long post on here a few years ago all about it. Hope this helps. :)

hey just wrote reply on the thread
from few years ago
thanks pandabloke.
as you read it you can tell i'm slightly pppppd off
has anyone come up with a free program over the yrs i can use
to turn this off myself

There is a free program out there, but only the paid version (I think) resets the index, unless anyone can tell us differently. Sorry. (n)

hi ya pandabloke.
ok i've an update on my oil light for my 2007.1.9 diesel. new shape.multi.
i found some info on the problem
and i have managed to turn it off
with no use of a computer
turn the ignition on
you then press the mode button on dash
and it comes up with setup
from there i pressed [ -] button then mode again
and service comes up then u scrol through untill you see
service again but will have a number underneath in my case
it was [0] then u press the [+] and [-] together and you
hold down for about 45 seconds or untill you see 12500 come on
let go of them and wait for the dash to go back to normal
then started it an no oil light flashing.:D
so fingers crossed its gona behave in the morning lol.

Sounds like the default service setting. I'd be really keen to know if this does reset the index completely. Let us know if you would. Well done on this one.(y)
