under the bonnet....
hello,

so i checked my car over today and noticed my oil sump is a bit on the rusty side and has a slight drip, now i wouldn't say a major leak something that'd set alarm bells off but something that'd need doing at some point. unfortunately i dont have a piccie cause its only just dawned on me :p how are hard/easy these to take off and replace? are they just bolted on?

thanks!

Could well be. Main trick to replacing the rocker cover gasket is cleanliness (I use acetone to clean it all up), a little gasket goo and -- most important -- don't overtighten the bolts.

If the drip mysteriously goes, you'll know it's not the sump. Other likely sources on the top end are the O ring seal for the coil pack holder and the camshaft oil seal (on the opposite end).

How much does the gaskets go for these days? Havent replaced one in a long time, and you mean when overtightening, not too loose but tight enough?
