Technical Oil Pressure Warning Fiat Stilo 1.8 16v

I have no idea how they checked the oil sensor. I told them i thought that was the problem and they tell me they put a gauge on it to check the pressure which was fine and they checked the switch and it was fine. I didn't stay with the car i left it all day.

I will change the oil filter straight away and see if that helps. I have not had the oil pressure warning now since Saturday, so i won't really know if anythink is helping until it does it again. (touch wood it wont)

Will keep you posted on progress.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has helped with this issue its great to have somewhere to go when you have a problem with your car and get advice.

Right seems i have been on the wrong track completely!

I thought the car was giving the low oil pressure warning and cutting off the engine.

However its now aparent that the car stalls and then i get the warning.

I noticed while sat in the car with the engine running that if i rev the engine pretty high and just let it drop off when the revs get to 1000 it starts to sound like its going to cut out and then when it goes below it stalls. This is obviously why i was only getting the problem a junctions or when i was about to stop. It only does it when revs drop below 1000 if at all.

The car hadnt done it for nearly 2 weeks but started again yesterday and today is fine again.

Feel like this is a problem that will never go away.

Any ideas

I'd be looking for something else though. A low oil pressure warning won't turn off the engine but when the engine stalls out then you WILL get a low pressure warning so I'd be looking for something that can stop the engine when you slow down

This is what Decks suggested to you back in post #17.

You need to get any fault codes read. That could give a clue as to why the engine is cutting out.

If your car has one, it may be an airflowmeter (MAF) my last car (An Alfa) cut out at random times, and had a lumpy tickover (again intermittent) and a new MAF sorted it out- the common test there was to disconnect the MAF wire and do a quick test, if symptons disappear, you've found the fault, but I don't know what this might do to the computor???

My JTD also flashes this sign up, sometimes when the engines cold, niot sure when the old/filter was last done so this will be my first step, oil looks very thin and watery on the dipstick to me...

Hello

New Fiat owner reporting in! I bought a late 2003 model 1.8 16v Stilo too last week and have the same issue. Love the car otherwise but it also gives me 'low oil pressure' warning and cuts the engine out (or vice versa). It happens when slowing down or stopping for junctions etc, for example slowing down and changing to second to turn into a side road. Did it three times yesterday.

Toddy, did you get any further with finding out what it was in the end? Have to try and keep the missus happy and not changing it to a Toyota :D

I am facing the same issue with my newly bought car Fiat Stilo 1.8 Dynamic 2004 model. It's really scaring me  in the junctions and people at my back start honking because of this delay.

I always have to maintain the rev by pressing gas pedal to prevent it from halt.

I have ordered diagnostic code reader to read the DTC's.

Do anyone have an  idea why it is happening?

This also happens with my 1.6 16v Stilo, however only when I sharp turn right, such as little roundabouts.

Been happening occasionally for a few weeks, should I do anything or is this just the way the pump is. Or is this indicating oil level is too low?
