Technical Oil Change

i went off to the shops 'n bought a new oil and oil filter, rumage around in the shed for a suitable container to drain the oil into, get the tools out, get changed into old clothes, pull on rubber gloves and then. i haven't got a tool to remove the oil drain plug!! i went off to the halfrauds and buy a tool with several different sizes and none fit. so i've given up on it for today but does anyone know what size hexagon key it needs?? mine is a 1.4

Dont quote me on this, but if i remember its either 12mm or 14mm.
