Technical Oil change - strange question

On my Ducato, there are two oil fill points. Which do I use?
The recessed one, or the one right by the bonnet catch?

On the second image filler - there is a bit of milky stuff inside it, a creamy colour. Could this just be from condensation due to low usage?

Yes that just a tiny bit of condensation from short journeys low use nothing to be concerned about.

Wow that's a tough one , odd camera angle , not much background to pin down location......
Engine breather to vapour separator.

No you don't need to replace it yet, if when the engine is fully hot only fumes leak out then it may need replacing. 1192wj is Peugeot part number for the replacement kit.

Using a 12v pump to change the oil as we speak. The flow has gotten much weaker and only 4L max taken out so far. I'll take the drain plug out too to see what it leaves behind.
Just seeing if the 12v pump makes it quicker.

Dropped the plug and a good amount more came out. Going to roughly work out how much it was in total

Where was level on dipstick before draining?

The level was about halfway between the two.
I drained about 5.2L max

I put in 5.4ish.

The dipstick is a horrible design so it smears as you retract it, but I think I can see the regular level at the bottom, which shows just under max now, the digital one still only shows 3 circles, but that goes between that and an 'oil high' message, so I don't ever trust it.

Going to let it all settle and check again in a couple of hours!

Seems a job well done, for once..

I did change the filter, yes.

The new oil was pretty much black by the time I checked it on the dipstick pretty much! That's an old diesel for you I suppose.

Correct diesel oil goes black quite quickly it is perfectly normal, diesel engine oil has additives to suspend the soot particles for this very reason.

I think if I had let the engine warm up for a little longer, I'd have had more success with the 12V pump. 4L or so took 30 minutes to pump out. Just a tad slow!
