After owning my Barchetta for over 4 years now and not getting so much as a scratch, I performed a u-turn in the road last night (care and attention was lacking) and drove over a small (very small) traffic island (no signs on at all but my fault I guess)...............and cracked my sump, nursed her home but its f****d.

Has anyone been in a similar position? Or does anyone know how much this is going to cost me lol, and a decent source for said item? Any help would be appreciated.

Regards

Danny

My wife did her VW Bora sump a little while ago... cost about £350 to fix (dealer prices) inc. sump, labour and new oil (synthetic stuff).

If you're lucky and can lay your hands on the parts needed quickly, you're probably looking at £250-300. Pure guess, mind you!

One of my previous cinqs had a sump peppered with holes - soon fixed it with a tube of JB Weld from Halfords - might be a temporary solution until sump replaced.

Hey Danny, have you sorted out the sump yet, only I have a spare one off a '99, £60 if your interested, it has a few marks on the bottom as the engine is not in a car, but no cracks or damage.

hi there i probably know the answer to this but do you still have that sump available and will it fit a 97 barchetta thanks :)

Yep had this. First i went the tight arse route to save wonga, and weld repaired the sump.
This didnt last so i ended up paying for the work to be redone and a new sump. i.e. spent alot more.:bang:
