hi all... sorry. this is kinda non bravo linked.. but knowing u lot, ul be able to help no end..

my girlfriend has just brought herself a 52 plate Punto..

its got the standard tape player headunit in it still. we have managed to find the facia plate thingy bob needed, but im looking for a how to guide to get the old thing out and such..

can any body help. or point me in the right direction to find a guide.

also. i remember buying the facia for my Bravo, and people saying there were good and bad ones. some that didnt quite fit right. is this the same case with punto ones, or is any a good bet..

thanx all.

Tim

you could go to fiat and ask them as there is a special prongs to take out the radio. or you could use something like a hacksaw blade to unclip the radio

i see.. so it is a proper job then.. not just 10 mins..

thats not good news. :0)

well with the prongs its only a ten second job . try the guide on here for removing the radio on a bravo/a i thikn its along the same lines

I used a butter knife, took me 30 mins cos it was a right bitch to get out

yo CAN use feeler blades, but both times i needed my bravo ones out, the nearest FIAT independent mechanic (NOT franchised dealer) took it out in about 10 seconds FOC.

but then, he's the same guy that had the privilege of doing my gearbox, clutch, and rear brake conversion last year. so he'd already had a grand off me by then, lol.

Point being, if you can find your nearest independent (7 miles for me) then you can probably get it done in a flash FOC. Also, while your their, it might help if you ask how busy he is, and get a price for a cambelt/service. He's much more likely to do it for free if he gets the idea you will be back soon spending money. PLUS, the price might be good and you can get it done there :D

I use to have a mk2 punto on a y plate, you just need the standard ford prongs ( halfords about 2 quid) or an old metal coat hanger cut and bend into shape push the ends into the holes on each side of the stereo push till you hear a click bend them to the side and pull should slide straight out.
