O2 sensor.

Next week I'm going to change the O2 sensor in my 2000 modelyear 1.6-16V Fiat (Palio).
Is this a straight swap, or is there a special procedure for this task?
Should I use some (copper) grease on the new sensor thread?

it's otherwise known as a lambda sensor, haven't changed one myself, but can't imagine it being particularly difficult, other than removing it may prove difficult if it's seized.

Hi Peter.

Might need some heat onto the manifold where the Lambda sensor goes into it to help free it up, other than that just unplug the wires to it, install replacement sensor and connect wiring back up

Well, I just have finished the job.......
Took about three hours, because this O2 sensor is mounted in a difficult to reach space....!
I had to unbolt the exhaust to lower it to get room for the tools to unscrew the old sensor.
It wasn't seized, because the factory had put some special grease on it, the new sensor had it as well, some green stuff.
Guess what, the old one was a TKV made in Japan, and so was the new one, from a Fiat box, bought at an official Fiat dealer......!!!!

I was more interested in the fact how to start the engine after mounting the new sensor, the ECU has to re learn everything, right?
Anyway, I just started it, and it ran fine, going to take it for a test ride later this evening, keep you all informed about the results!
