I have finally got my stereo as i want it after many attempts and changes of plans. I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has helped and advised, in particular Tom, Tafi and Daz.

was going to do one of those funky diagrams but i couldnt be bothered plus i'm a little sketchy on product codes off the top of my dead, but you get the idea!

Panasonic Phase II cd head unit
Panasonic 8-disk cd-changer
collins 500watt 2 channel amp driving;
65watt rms phase liner components in front doors
and kenwood kac-7201 800watt 2 channel amp driving;
pioneer w304c 300/600watt sub in sealed box
600watt inverter for laptop

loud enough and bassy enough for me plus i have boot space again and it all looks 100% standard so the scroats can't tell its there!

13 or 16cm components?

13. was going to go for 16's but i havent got the space to make brackets whilst the car is in pieces at the mo so went for the easy option.

Whats the bass like from them with no sub? Never heard the 13s.

not really run them much without the sub, it all went in at the same time. i just got the levels about right and left it. i'll have a fiddle next time i go out and tell you what i think. only thing i dont like is with some music the high frequencies are a bit harsh on the ear. i have the trebble down which helps a bit.

Where and how did you mount the tweeters? Harshness is usually quite simple to fix.

they are in the fiat holes. i copped out on mounting them and used thick card! cut it to the shape of the hole and cat a hole for the tweeter then shoved it all in. i was short of time and figured it was easy to get back in if needs be.

So they point up at the screen? With the fiat covers over too?

yes and yes. they can be angled if necessary.

Try them without the fiat covers but still pointing up.

ok i'll have a go tomorrow, would prefer to leave the covers on to make the car look standard if possible

Of course, this is just a test. What you may need to do is angle them slightly towards eachother.

You'd be amazed what angling the tweeters can do to the sound.

At first sight you'd think the way I've fitted them is very odd but its about the best you can do really.

with them being small i didnt expect them to do a lot. how wrong was i. lol
