Hi. New Ducato based campervan, (2024), 180hp auto. Started from new with 100% adblue on gauge and 1200 miles later is still showing 100%. I would have expected to have used at least 10 litres. Is this indicative of a fault that needs sorted before we leave on a six month trip? Anyone had this experience?

It is brand new ask the supplying dealer to check .

If you can easily access the add blue tank look inside and see if level has dropped at all.

Limit your investigations to looking only , you don't want to void your warranty by touching anything you shouldn't touch.

My understanding of adblue systems is that adblue is added when exhaust temperatures and pressures are high, so if the van isn’t being overly stressed then it may not have had much call for injecting adblue

One thing that some systems do it use the liquid but without propper venting the tank collapses, this is known to cause tanks to crack so you need to keep an eye on this. If the fluid is being sucked out of the tank but the volume of the tank is decreasing because of not letting air into the tank then it is feesable the level would no show a decrease. I would periodically open the tank, maybe every time you fill up, to make sure air is getting in.

1200miles isn’t a lot for that van so it’s quite possible it’s not used very much fluid over that time

How many miles have you driven since you have had the camper van I had a similar issue with my 2022 plate ducato ,when still under warranty could not understand why it said I haven’t used much adblue then warning lights came up cut a long story short new adblue injector and tank 2 months later it was fixed , after being off the road.i now don’t take any notice off the guage and top it up after 3 to 500 miles.

Sorry I see it was 1200 miles try to top up and see if it’s used any then you will know either way

My 2021 Ducato does about 350 miles per litre of Adblue and the tank is 17 litres. Which would suggest a usage of 3 - 4 litres - not 10 litres, but still enough to knock the gauge off its 100% reading.

They say you shouldn't fill the adblue tank to the top but I always have with no issues - probably because I have enlarged the vent hole in the filler cap. Adblue congeals when it dries out and could block a tiny vent hole.

I would suspect the gauge is not accurate and try putting a couple of litres in to confirm it isn't 100% full.
