North West to me is Carlisle, Penrith, Kendal..

Given the distance between Birmingham and Manchester they are close enough to be both Midlands.

IIRC there are police patrols, no fixed cameras though. It's nice and quiet at 8am-ish on a Sunday morning, flat new road surface etc

I camped in the snow at Donny last year and it wasn't fun at all, will agree with Sammi that March may not be the best time for it

I camped in the Lakes in early January. When the 4 season tent started folding in on itself we decided to try somewhere less windy. Got to Consiton and stayed the night there. Next night we heard thunderstorms. 12 mile away, then 9, then 6, then 3, then we went to the pub
