ok here goes,

Im currently saving up for a cinq sporting and need a lot of advice anyway on to the questions:D

1. how much should i pay for a low milage, hpi clear, full service history sporting? im thinking £2,000 - £3,000 is that too much?

2. whats the widest alloys i can get on it? and can u give me some web links 2 where i can look at some that will fit it, i know putting bigger wheels on slows it down so i'll probs put some 14's on.

3. im 22 y/o and just passed my test ive been looking at insurance and from budget i got £1127.94 from zenith insurance syndicate at Lloyd's.... is that too much? have u got a better deal???

4. my sound system im planning on getting is quite powerfull (over 1,000 watts rms[8D]) will the cinq be able to handle it without draining the battery (bear in mind im a total noob 2 cars ive just been reading thru the forum pickin up advice)

5. im going to lower it, new mirrors, new exhaust, alloys etc, do u think its better going to a local garage or to a proper place which i know will b more expensive???;)

cheers in advance for all your help, ill probs be askin a lot more questions when i get the car lol;)

Hi,

as I'm from germany I can't tell you too much about prices and things like this. But I'll try to shed some light:
1. no clue
2. widest alloys .... that is some mine field you are in ... someone is trying to fit 10x13 to his cinquecento someone esle is going for 18" wheels .... but if don't want to spend too much money it's getting easier. 15" are slowing it down (believe me you can tell the difference), 14" are a good as the transmission ratio is almost unchanged etc., 13" maybe shortening the transmission ratio and are easy to fit. So either 13" or 14" the sizes are not a big difference. The normal sizes are something like 175/50-13 (even on standard sporting alloys) or 185/50-14 or 195/45-14 they all are similar in width (a 195 is in theorie wider then a 175 but a 175 on a 7" alloy is bigger then a 195 on a 5,5"). You choose if you want your car closer to the ground (13") or the wheel arches (???) looking more filled. If you are going for 6x13 or 6x14 (sometimes some spacers are necessary) you have a big choice of alloys for small bucks and little problems fitting them.
3. no clue at all
4. 1000watts rms .... that all depends on how reliable this 1000W are. Some of the cheap 1000W amps have "only" 4x50W in real live. I have a 5channel amp with 4x70W and 1x180W and this is more than enough. Draining the battery is possible (depending on your usage of the stereo .. listening without engine on ... driving only short distances .....) but should not happen. You should get a buffer condensator (I hope this expression translater 1:1 from german) with 1Farad or so this will store some electricity close to your amps and will supply it when you need it (bass etc). This will get rid of flickering lights when you hear loud music and the bass is kicking in.
5. look for a already modified car. That would be the cheapest. A lot of things can be done in any garage, you normally only need specialist for special jobs. But sometimes you can get good package deals i.e. at buying a suspension kit and getting it fitted etc.

thanx blitzen for the help much appreciated :D the 10x13's sound a bit wide for such a small wheel lol is the person doin that on here??? oh n about the sound system its MA Audio 1200xl sub 600watt rms 1200w max with a MA AUDIO AMP HK 1997 1200watt 1 channel to drive it with, plus a hk102sx 2 channel amp (2x 400w) to drive MA sy69f 6x9 speakers

link to the site for this lot > http://www.ultimate-sounds.com/maaudio/

tell me what u think of the setup... im gunna get a component set as well but dunno which 1 yet

cinq-tastic ive seen ur chinq respect to you for a bloody good job ;) unfortunatly i aint got a penny to scratch my arse with at the mo lol plus it aint quite the look im goin for n i think id rarther do it all myself n get to know everythin about the chinq so if owt bad happens i'll kinda know what to do anyway thanx for the offer

Three grand is absolute top bucks at a garage, you could pick up a good R or S reg cinq for 2K or less private.

Lowering is easy, 2 hour job if you have the tools.

BTW, if you're from Darlo and see me tear arseing around in a silver cinq with blue viper stripes, do give us a wave - I'm from Boro!!
