General Non Starter

hmmm. That description kind of goes for what I thought the crank sensor is for. The cam sensor is tricky to replace apparently, but I've not tried it myself.

If it runs fine once started, it's more likely to be something like that than an injection system fault.

My 2 cents....
IIRC The fuel pump holds off until there is 200 bar detected on...
When you are cranking you see only 60 so no fuel is supplied however introducing the easy start fires the engine much faster than your starter motor can and brings you over the 200 bar... On comes the fuel.

So what's the problem???
Faulty/dirty pressure sensor maybe... Are you sure your battery is really up to the task?... Most multis have a piddly 380 amp cranking power battery.
Did you try jump starting it??
Keep your laptop hooked up and watch the parameters.

Marty.

Well you got me thinking. So I started the car with easy start, drove to the top of a hill, switched it off.
Tried to re start it just to make sure and no, wouldn't start as usual.
Put it in gear, handbrake off and roll down the hill a bit and let the clutch out.......away she went.
Stopped, switched off and repeated everything, bump started again no problem!!
To me, this rules out any sensors etc being faulty at all and points more to battery/starter motor area don't you think?

Good man... Get some jump leads and try that too, Also look at your battery and see how many cranking Amps it has, my guess is under 400..should be 600 or so.
Marty.

Just to clarify my first point.
It should have said the ecu holds fuel back until rail pressure goes above a certain value. (Keeps injectors closed)

Thanks for everything so far Marty.
My battery is 580 CCA 60Ah.
I've come to the conclusion that if it bump starts, then it's either starter motor, bad connection or battery.
Checked all connections to battery and starter motor today and cleaned up while I was at it anyway.
Wasn't a bad connection as still doesn't start.
So will get battery checked tomorrow (load tested)
On cranking, the voltage drops from 12.5 to 9.5v which seems very low to me, so I think I'm on the right track now?

Yeah that's too low...have u a charger or someone with jump leads?

Charged it up yesterday but don't have jump leads to try someone elses battery boosting mine, so none the wiser on the battery yet.
My local tyre/battery place does free battery health checks, so I was planning on popping there tomorrow to rule it out/condemn it :)

Yeah no harm sure... Still could be a battery lead on the way out that could be drawing too much current.
Or any lead between your battery and starter motor for that matter!
Start by checking the battery first tho!
Marty

Update;
battery, alternator and starter motor all checked out good!
Now I'm stumped and today it got worse.
I could hardly start the car with Easystart after I'd already started and run it once and got nice and warm previously.
Now looking along the "no fuel" direction :(
