Hi
I have a 2021 Panda 4 * 4 cross with 20k miles - i have noticed it has started periodically making noises when turning left - does not do it all the time but sounds like something in the suspension is not happy. The front wishbones were replaced under warranty 2 years ago but with the state of the roads, it could be a worn ball joint? I guess the other candidate is the anti roll bar bushes? Other than this noise, car drives as expected and tyre wear does not look uneven etc.
Had a look at both sides and there is nothing obviously perished/damaged and no leaks from shocks that i can see.
Its due its annual service and MOT and the end of April.
Anyone else had a similar issue?
Thanks

What sort of noise, a squeek, rattle, thump, crack, grrrrrr, rumble, clunkity vlunckity clunckity......

On full lock, half lock, slight lock, to the left....

Inside or outside of car.....

Front or back, left or right.....

Over....

Hi.
Noise is a cluncking noise, sound like front left of car when turning left. Not full lock but when turning left at a T junction for example. Outside of car as far as I can tell. Thanks

A single clunk when braking ?

A single clunk when pulling off, after braking ?

A single clunk with a slight "ringing sound"...

Any difference In feel thru steering wheel when clunk happens... ?

Or a clunkity clunckity clunckity type sound getting faster with speed, slow speed, pulling off from stationery speed....?

Hi. Not impacted by braking, multiple clunks until steering straight. Does not happen everytime steering or turn left. No feeling through steering, just the noise. Suspect its antiroll bar bushes....

Multiple clunks, regular wheel speed related clunks ?

Still, get it checked out....

You know about early mot tests, and the absolutely rediculous situation where by an early test " fail " allows vehicle road use whilst "current " MOT remains in force. Very much fail reason dependant and vehicle should be legally roadworthy "at all times".

If it varies with speed then quite possibly the CV joint on that side is suspect.
Hi - no, nothing when driving along - only noticed when turning left, and not all the time - Will monitor it for the next week or so and see if it starts occurring more frequently. Just done a 20 mile round trip along mix of roads (including pot hole riddled roads) and nothing. As i mentioned, its due for service next month, so if gets worse/more frequent, i will book it in early.

cv joint is usually a clackerty clackerty clackerty clackerty road wheel speed rythmic sort of noise, usually heard with large lock in car parks......

you live down a leafy branchy type of country road??

have a look underneath in that area of noise for a bit of branch or similar.....

don't just leave it until it gets worse and a wheel falls off....unless of course you turn up the radio first.

No, i wont leave it until a wheel falls off! Have had a failing CV joint in the past (different car) and its not that - and no foreign object obvious underneath - look under front (and back) again today. Thanks for the advice - will update here when (if) culprit is identified.

Maybe not the ARB bushes, but the drop link that connects the bar to the front strut. They are well known for the plastic bushes wearing out. If you part-jack the car (just enough to take the weight off the drop link but not then load it with the weight of the raised wheel) it should be difficult to 'wiggle' the balljoints at either end of the drop link. If either moves freely or slack is detected, that's your problem. New drop links are about £12 a side and easy to replace.

Also, look closely at the rubber bush at the back end of the wishbone (and compare it with the other side). I had one fail where the rubber unglued from the metal ring it sits in, which meant the wishbone dropped down a bit and contacted the subframe under some situations.

Thanks for all the feedback - i will update the post once i have identified the issue or its failed its MOT next month! (or before if noise gets worse/more frequent).
