Mine has now gone to the fiat garage,When you say your engine light came on. do you mean the yellow one with the pic of an engine(managment light?) or just the red stop light? my read stop light has alwas flashed when the enigine was stopped even when it was going

My yellow light came on and only the would the car start, never took any notice if it ever came on before or if the stop light flashed as the car was super reliable until last week, costing me £45 to have ecu tested, and I am hoping that if faulty it can be fixed. If it costs more than £500 to fix I am going to break it for spares on ebay or sell as non runner, and never buy a fiat again.

I wont be buying a fiat again as I have never had this much bother with any car before, Italian car-french engine? However if it gets fixed I will be keeping it as it is the perfect size for my 3 kids.

Fixed it. thanks T14068 you were right, the main double relay, the punto one was different, sorted now,
Thanks for all your help

My ECU has been checked and they say it's faulty, going to cost £250 plus labour to fix it.

Hi Guys

I am having trouble with a battery drain on my 2.0 petrol 2000 (W) (dead if engine not run for over 3 to 4 hours). The engine is also runniny very rough - as if a cylinder is not firing (no spark?) - and occasionally cuts out (I have recently replaced the idle valve). When first started it smells of petrol and I am getting only about 20 MPG!

RAC guy who jump started it tested battery (which is only 3 months old) and charging system and said that there was no fault there. Took it to an Auto Electrician who has said it is a faulty battery!

The black box with the red fastener (which I now understand is a double relay - thanks guys) clicks when the engine is turned off! Do you guys think this could be the cause of my problems?

Know what you mean about frustration - my Mrs is a child minder and the Ulysse is perfect for her school runs and is a great car to drive - when it works!! I have said on some of my other posts that I ALWAYS use my local Citroen Dealer for parts and advice - they are friendlier, quicker and cheaper than either Fiat or Peugeot dealers.

If I can not fix it I think I will just have so sell my wife into slavery and buy one of the smart new Puntos!!!!!
