no red key

Ive had my cinq for two years now but i never got the red key with it as i didnt know about the different coulered keys i only got 1 blue key i was just wondering when would i need this red key and what for.
Ive heard its £1000 to get one!!!

well if your ecu throws a wobbly then thats when the red key may be needed. full ecu & lock set from fiat is bout £1000. but dont panic as www.codeman.org can decode your ecu for £175 IIRC on the price

umm it is important but if you are concerned mckrich does a chip for the sporting which elimantes the need for the red key (it disables the immobiliser)
i do know a replacement red key can be expensive sorry

I've had 2 cinqs over 5 1/2 years, covered 75,000 miles between them, and never needed the red key. You should be ok.

If you want another blue, you can get them copied at some key cutting places. If I were you I'd have one done. Bargain on about £25 - could save you some money in the long run.

On the other hand a guy with a Brava complained about not having a red key, was told it was OK, nothign to worry about and about three days later his ECU broke and he needed red key (there's a thread in the Bravo/a section somewhere). However, depending on the age and condition of your car, you might be cheaper buying a new car if something went wrong with the ECU.

I Think custard boy is on commision from car audio [codeman] but if I where you try phoning him first you will not get an answer his phone is never switched on and the other is an answer machine I do not think that is a way to run a buisness

I have no red key for my Punto, im just taking a risk hoping the orange key light doesnt stay on, lol

It was a lease car for a while (when it was new), where is the best place to get a replacement, i did email codeman but he never replied. Maybe hes never there.
