My 2000 Punto 1.2L 8v has little or no power - hardly enough to start moving. Having looked through some relevant posts I suspected the cat and got a replacement at a breaker's yard. But the replacement has 2 tapped holes (am I right in saying these are for the O2 and lambda sensors?), whereas the existing one has just the one.
Can I still use the replacement, if I plug the second hole? And does this mean that my Punto has an O2 sensor only?

o2 and lambda sensors are one and the same thing, just blank off the hole you don't need. Are you sure you only have one sensor, there should be a downstream sensor somewhere.

Yes, possibly - I might take the head off and look.

"Does code read thrown anything useful up?"

Unfortunately. my OBD2 scanner will not link, although it does on another 00 Punto. I guess it must be an early model.
