Technical No idea about engines

K will do. Hopefully my cinq should be running sweet as a nut by next weekend :D If all goes to plan that is (which is rarely does :D)

if you're that depressed about having a cinq, just walk away, buy a different car, and leave the cinq to someone who wants to get it running!

why do you want to keep this car on the road? is it style, nostalgia, or practicallity. or all three! I'm new to the cinq, present car is a mondeo, which can be fixed if you have the ecu codes! and trawl through the net to find out how to fix it! cinq is real driving, goes back to my first car ford escort days-real car! 899 with arb goes round roundabouts and corners, but doesn't go very fast!(which is probably a good thing as i'm into a bit of fun!). When i mature i wil upgrade to cinq sporting but i've been led to beleive there is a 12.50 turbo. if this is true i will continue to save!:worship:

great thread revival mind

anyway if you are wanting a 1250 turbo (actually 1242cc) then what you need todo is either buy a one done (doubt anyone is selling one like) or buy a sporting (1108cc) bin the engine and fit a punto 60(1242spi) or punto 75 (1242mpi) and then turbo it, or you could do punto 85 (1242 16v mpi) and then turbo it and have an insanly quick car, or even go totally nuts and fit a 1388cc 16v (100hp ish stock) and then turbo that the options are unlimited with these cars

Replaced 4 tappets and the engine sounds new except for a whirring/ groining type noise near the carb/rocker area! Can only be heard when the bonnets is open. Can't work out what it is, and I wanted a few weeks of trouble free motoring! LOL I managed to sort out all the potential rust problems around the rear wheel arches with a bit of chemical metal, paint and laquer. Having a bit of difficulty selecting first gear and reverse gear as well. I'm able to select the gears if I give the accelerator a quick blip( it's not that bad, but you do need to have a feel for the gearbox): hoping it's the clutch cable, but the clutch seems to bite in the right place so I'm a bit worried about overtightening it a then ending up with a cluthc that isn't properly engaged?:bang:

What is it about these cars that makes a rational man want to continue spending all their free cash on keeping them on the road? I do like the fact that doing 40 feels like 70. I like cornering with several forced turns of the steering wheel, with the slight fear of rolling the car; which can be wiped out by flicking the back end out and letting the front pull you through (only in the wet with 899cc and with ARB fitted). I like to wind down my window! My insurance company won't even insure me if I fit a K&N panel filter, so there's no chance of an induction kit and the few extra HP which would allow me to overtake the odd really slow driver! Or should I just go down the French farmer road and drive and maintain the car, but not wash it, and keep it going for another ten years(by which time the only original part will be the steering wheel!). I don't know. It's like an addiction. I'm still with it and maybe the sporting is the way forward; I have so many regrets about not buying a sporting sold near Skipton last month (can't spell Keithly); It was a tow car with 60k.

Thank's, I'll have to check it out and sort it! Owning one of these cars is like owning an old violin; there is always a repair that is needed to maintain performance. I hammer an 1824 Brescian violiln with all the torque I have in me when playing Bach, so the Fiat will live on! Machen Sie Weiter!
