it's been a mad few days at work, with no chance of any spannering between shifts, but some thing did need to get sorted before the trip to brooky today, and last night was the only option...after a 12 hour shift, and about 14 hours on the go.....:bang:
so it was back to the facilities at pitstart, up on a ramp and get dirty underneath, with the capable help of jason
that knocking exhaust, just couldn't figure it out, everything was bolted up right, fitted etc, just couldn't see it....dammit:bang::bang: thn we started to work back from the downpipe, undoing and teasing it round see if it could work better, and lo jason spotted it....in doing the arb we figured best way was to drop the exhaust, undo the arb, drop that out and slide new one up, then do up exhaust again. during this the centre sections connection to the back must have come under some twist, broken its paste and clamp seal, and gotten turned a couple of degrees, hence the rear bit before the beam, was twisted out of turn. plus we noticed the position had put the rubber hangers under a lot of strain and they were starting to give out....
down to midnight motors, some new paste, 2 new hangers, back again, take off the centre pipe, clean it up...jason getting intimate with power tools....position it all up properly (wd40 makes a great rubber lube:devil
paste on, clamp her up, and hey presto, loads of clearance, no knocking, no closeness to the handbrake cable!
while we were under there getting dirty as hell, tightened up the handbrake cable, and solutioned the replacement for the original, crumbling, fuel pipe feed from the tank to the primary filter, 2 years ago, chas and i put a length of fuel pipe in, but as it wasn't pre bent into sharp, was hard to get it to do the tight, immediate 90 degree turn it needs, without a kink, which has got progressively worse. solution? a plastic corner piece, made for carrying fuel/oil etc, 2 pieces of fuel line, 4 clamps, and now is fine, no kinking, solid!
and just for kicks, we put the metal cover plate back on, that goes over the filter and pump, hopefully will provide a little protection.....
so what's left? everything! lol.
alignment was way out, will post up the stats soon, but now she rocks.
