Technical "No disc in cd changer"

Anyone encountered this message? There are 6 discs in the mag., but it hunts around a bit then comes up with that message. Internal changer fault? I tried another changer (know good when removed from a Pug 307) but it hunted around too - though no message came up on the head unit...

sounds like the lazer in the changer is not reading the disks and the new one might just need a cd cleaner running through it

I had already stripped it and cleaned the laser - what's going on is the cds are not being taken from the magazine and loaded on the right... But anyone ever fixed this?

What I mean is, CDs never get as far as the laser - they stay stuck in the magazine. :-(

Turned out that there was a sizeable chunk of foil - green one side, silver the other in the cd player area to the right. How did a bit of wine bottle foil get in there???! Whatever, after re-setting the loading mechanism to centre so as to allow it to find its end limits, bingo!
