Hi all,
already put lots of effort to find the correct steering column unit for RETROFIT, WITH speed limiter AND cruise control - however failed with asking FIAT PROFESSIONAL dealers, suppliers (MEAT & DORIA) ,"experts" and other forums.

Status as follows:
  • have OBD programmed the speed limiter & cruise control - both are correctly showing up at the LED panel, as well Km/h programming is possible at the speed limiter
  • however - there is no chance to realy activate the speed limiter when driving
  • cruise control is working only "half" - i. e. in 2nd, 3rd, 5th gear it can be operated excellent - in 4th gear it is hard to switch in (sometimes it works some not...), 6th gear does not work at all
  • had installed (plugged in to existing steering column switches) an original cruise & speed limiter - found lately that it was from a 2.0 Peugeot Boxer, 5-gear, low hp
  • as my car is the 09/2015, 250, 3.0 MJ 177hp with 6. gear - I ASSUME, IT IS JUST THE WRONG UNIT INSTALLED ...
My main p. i. d. a. is that really nobody seems to be able to tell / ore be willing to tell which exact part number of the steering column switch is needed for my car - that provides BOTH - speed limiter & cruise control. As well somebody told me that "eventually" the driving pedal need to be exchanged to have speed limiter functionality?

HELP HIGHLY APPRECIATED!

I now got behind the issue is only with Euro5 3.0, that are fitted with the longer ratio of 6th gear (certain types of M40 gear box, only used in the MAXI 180MJ cars).

Nobody ever succeeded to setup the original Fiat cruise control / speed limiter within named configuration?

OK. The thread with the most information about a similar problem is this one:

The gearbox in the described vehicle (also a 3 liter diesel) has been changed (but the author, the actual owner doesn't know from which model to which, it was done by the previous owner). The cruise control is not working on the 6th gear, but is working properly on the others.

They found that MultiEcuScan can't see properly the 6th gear! I don't know where that option can be found in MES, probably somewhere around the gearbox. It's too cold for me to go and check on my own, I'm waiting with everything until it will be at least +10 centigrade outside in the afternoon / evening as I don't have a garage :(
The final reply was: program the proper gearbox in MES and then do the proxy alignment and it should work.

So, we have to find out how to program correctly the gearbox in MES.

Aparently EUR4/EUR5 BSI can also make a difference. How many terminals have you got in the cruise control lever?

What is the OBD plug and app that you are using?

I will as well look into that with MES, but have only old 4.8. ...will wait till no frost too 😁
My Duc is Euro5 Facelift with Marelli. Usually I work with AlfaOBD, yellow plug / no plug as for my car it has way more options to work around than MES. As well in AOBD I have already tried out ALL possible combinations of gearbox type, ratio, tyre dimensions, engine type - sadly with no success.

Hello, I have the same problem with my VAN(3.0 hdi Euro5) - after replacing the gearbox with different ration, now the cruise control doesn't work on 6th ger.
Also as mentioned MES says neutral when i'm on 6th gear.

Did you find a solution for your that problem ?

Hello,

This is a side effect of the replacement of the gearbox. According to several other forums the ECU calculates the gear basing on the speed and the RPMs. It has some kind of tolerance, but if the RPMs do not correspond to the speed, you can't switch the cruise control on.

Apparently it can be repaired: the ECU needs some reprogramming to set the correct values of the gear ratios.

On the Polish FIAT forum there are 2 companies claiming they know how to do it.
