Technical No carplay - replace headunit?

Hi all,

I’m very happy with my new car: Fiat Tipo (2017). But very disappointed with the functions of the uConnect headunit and missing Carplay.

I asked Fiat, dealers, specialists, sellers.. but no one seems to really know the answer or simply tells me it can’t be done. I really would like to add Carplay. I’m not comfortable with the ali express aftermarket units because of what I read. Somewhere else on this forum I read about replacing the headunit. It isn’t that hard to find a uConnect 7’’ with Carplay but not sure if that’s plug&play, I also read about not working functions.

Who has experience and can advice me what to do?

I guess you have the 5inch unit?


If so there definitely no carplay on

The 7" is an option but apparently can be enabled with a custom proxi allignment

Never heard about a custom proxy alignment, is that something that can be done by the dealer?

.and dealers won't to do this but there's been a few reports 5hat people have managed to activate carplay on the 7 inch Tipo units but it's not a simple thing to do
