Technical No Acceleration Problem Please Help!

Hi folks im new to the forum please be kind.

Ive got the chance to buy a 2001 Fiat Ducato 14 2.8 TD van.
The engine starts and runs fine just no acceleration when you press the gas pedal.
Anyone with any ideas, I would be very grateful.

The common rail engines are all "drive by wire" so it doesn't have a conventional accelerator cable. It used a sensor on the pedal to determine the position and adjusts the fueling appropriately. It sounds like there is no signal from the pedal reaching the ecu.
