Right so the 2 tanks are different. Asbos should have a fuel pump in I think. If the bolt holes are in the same place then using the metal belt as well the tanks can be swapped. that would be a good start.

That one with the heat shield is the same as the bottom of the selecta i have 1108 FIRE... cross metal strap... seized bolts etc...

has the pump settled in the top of it... with rusty bits.

Now we have a semi working panda (there's still a bit of fine tuning to do:eek: But at least it don't just die anymore!:D )

Mackers and Jaunty are having a look-see on Tuesday. They where at the Demolition Derby this week so if I need any bits I'm sure they'll have them lying round, so I'll keep you posted about that. Better make sure I've taken the radio out before I leave it with them cause old Jaunty will have it wipped out and up the market before I can say "ZC90"

So armed with a working panda and an idea for a holiday that Alan actually wants to go on this year I went and filled in a few boxes on Cahoot and I'm now lots of thousands of pounds in debt. Now I've just booked a very big boat to take a very small fiat a very long way and I've booked the 4 day event in Detroit. That a kick in the ass just off two grand and I've not even left the back bedroom!

I'm full of ideas, priceless ones.....

What are you leaving Sylvia with them for?

Jim, i don't like to be the bearer of bad news... but you aren't going to be the first Panda down mexico way...

shocker

if it's still down there maybe you can strip it :)

wait wait wait... when you click on it... it says it's in Portugal

I've given up on being the first at anything now....

As long as we make it back that's all I'm worried about!:D

got this sorted today thou which is good. (except the bank balance bit which is really bad. Had to hire an import agent to help with the paperwork at 87 quid:( )

Liverpool to Newark on the 24th June which arrives on the 4th July. This will allow plenty of time for the vehicle to be customs cleared and released for collection - you may have a couple of days storage (around $15 I believe) - Emma

Well, I didn't really need that other kidney anyway....

The rally is being run by FLU members, not AROC. AROC is just doing the autocross for us, and they are using the AROC rules, and the Detroit Council of Sports Car Clubs rules. Their rules are different than SCCA; which is a good thing.

Here are the Up-dated classes:

A. Pinn: 1983-85

B. Fiat Spiders: 1979-82

C. Fiat Spiders: 1975-78

D. Fiat Spiders: 1968-74

E. Pre-1968 Fiats: OSCA, Cabrolets, Coupes & GT's

F. X1/9: 1974-78 (1300)

G. X1/9: 1979-82 (1500)

H. Bertone X1/9: 1983-88

I. Fiat Rear Eng.: 500, 600, 850, Abarth, etc.

J. Lancia Pre-75: Appia, Flavia, Fulvia, etc.

K. Lancia Beta: Coupe, Sedan, Zagato, HPE, etc.

L. Lancia 1976-77: Scorpion, Monte Carlo

M. Fiat Sports: 128 SL, 128 3P, 124 Coupe, Euro Bravo, Dino Cpe, and Spider

N. Fiat Sedan: 124, 128, 131, Euro Brava, and Panda, etc.

O. All Alfa Spiders

P. All Alfa Coupes

Q. All Alfa Sedans

R. Other Italians

Awwah... Look, they've added Panda to class N of the Detroit autotest just for little old me!

Just got a TXt from Jim. Sylvia has just gone 275 miles in one day, (they went down South as we call it) AND HASN'T BROKE DOWN ONCE! WOOHOO Not sure how Alan feels about it all though as I asked Jim but haven't a reply apart from he's in guess were,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yes a PUB! Nothing new there then.:D

I've this in LL but I'll stick it here too as we get a lot of support from the panda section.

I know lots of FF'ers have posted on the American forum already (Chris, Sam, AppleSei etc) but I thougth it would be really great if we could nip over for a few minutes and post a pic of our cars and a hello to the poor americans that have not had new Fiat's since 1983 and have had to start their own dealer support and maintance.

I think it's great craic and I've already recived this from one of the directors of Fiat & Lancia US.

I clicked on the link you had in you post..the one leading to
www.fiatforum.com. WOW! That is so COOL! You guys on that side of the
Atlantic are just so damn lucky to have all the cars and stuff that we can't
have...AND...you can still buy new ones and have them serviced!

Envy, Envy from the USA.....

I'm really struggling with Insurance... I've emailed 20 companies so far and this has been the only response...

Thank you for inquiring about our insurance program. Unfortunately,
what of our underwriting guidelines is you must have a minimum of 9
years driving experience in the U.S.

The insurance companies listed below are some of our competitors that
may be able to assist your needs.

Thanks,

Sara Breashears

Sara then very delightfully forgot to include her list of competitors that would dash to my aid....

Silly cow!:p

I can't get cover in the UK. A UK agent can't offer (legally) insurance cover on a car in the US. I've been in contact with the Morgan and Lotus owners club who have both taken cars to the US but apparently it's quite easy to get a Group of cars covered. One individual and his sodding panda have no chance by the looks of it....

I never actually thought that this would be such a problem...
