Hi All,

Struggling what to plan for next.

Basically, I think im ready for a new car early next year but want to get an idea of how much I need to save.

The thing is, I dont know where to look. Should I look at cheaper cars (e.g. http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...t/page/2/radius/100/postcode/s662xg?logcode=p) or more expensive things that I'll keep for ages.

I will most likely modify whatever I get as I enjoy doing it, but no idea what.

I've looked at things like civic type rs (old shape not new), audi a3s, seat leons, punto tjets etc, but the thing I think with the older cars is whether it will keep running for a few years.

Another thing is if i get a cheaper car, ill be able to allow more for insurance...

I want something that's tunable, modern and not too common (like a tjet, but for the price of tjet I dont know).

Any suggestions? :)

EDIT: almost forgot im posting regarding buying a non-fiat car on a FIAT forum, hope this is okay.

Slightly biased...BMW 528i. Got mine for a grand, cheap insurance for a 2.8 at £570 for the year (well, it was £120 extra for the 9 months I had left from my Focus).

Panda 100hp ;)
Nah, Im in the same boat as you, want something new and cant decide what!
I was thinking about a Merc 190E/200E or another W123 chassic merc. Built like Brickpoohouses, engines are about £100 a pop and in the future, the 500sec V8 drops in as standard :D

But insurance is a pain... :'(

budget id say <6k.

I want a car I could tune, look nice, and quick.

Not in need of a huge boot or anything :)

as ysidfa said, its insurance...I did a quote on a civic type r and this is the result:

Ouch!

Would you consider a diesel? I would very happily trade my 406 for another Bravo, but an indirect diesel one ie TD75 and work from there (y)

Maybe a 306 D-Turbo either?

Tax isn't a factor over there unlike here!
