Quick question, unsure but mileage dispalyed on the display is held by the instrument cluster? Maybe stupid question but as it isn't mechanical I didn't know if it was given the value.
I will pick up a second hand cluster but may need to adjust miles to suit?

Mileage is stored in the instrument cluster and the engine management ECU. Because of a calculation error in MES, the two can show about 3% difference.

You can adjust the mileage with MES, but it will only allow you to adjust it upwards. If getting a second hand cluster, get one with a lower mileage than your existing one.
.

Thanks for the info guys.
I will be getting the spare cluster regardless to check my issue with the temp gauge to see if i can rule out the cluster.
Unsure of its miles yet so hopefully a lower one than mine.
Nothing done today as such. Kept scrubbing the interior with some brushes.
Hopefully a dry day tomoz so can fit my new number plates and test my odb reader.
Just ordered a cam belt kit, water pump and aux belt next.

Thanks Davren , really appreciate the offer unfortunately I am in Birmingham. I will be getting it for peanuts anyway so no bother. Thanks for your help so far.
Weird thing tho, after some uses my temp gauge is at cold all the while. I'm looking forward to testing alternative clocks.

Nowt really done today but Took it for a tip run today , perfect car for tip run.

Nothing done but purchased some genuine roof bars as I need to transport some ladders. The multiwagon is proving to be very useful indeed. Chuffed with it to be fair.

Another item I want to do is fit cruise control. Fingers crossed I have the stalk plug. If I ain't I won't fit it as its no biggy.

Outside air is consistently underread by off but has been since I've got it. Will look at the connectors when we have a good dry day. Seen -22.5 so far but that's shown on the climate screen aswell.

It's the engine temp that's weird and wonderful. When I got the car it was constantly max off the red. More I use it has dropped on start up but does not move while using the car. Now it is pretty much at minimum and no movement.
Car heats up fine and no overheat light on temp gauge so happy it's not overheating.

Gonna try the gauges first and check temp sensor connection. Hopefully get an accurate readout.

Went down to my pals to nick some bits of the stilo he has down there.
He has a 3door Abarth and 5 door jtd both in silver. He's not a breaker but a fiat coupe specialist. He's using the engine and box out of both cars so everything else can go.
If anyone needs any bits let me know so can get photos etc.

I've got myself a few small bits as the specs of each stilo seem to vary massively.
The 5 door jtd has factory reversing sensors, ac not climate, auto lights, cd changer and no steering wheel controls and steel wheels.
The Abarth has blades, skyroof, climate, leather steering wheel and full leather interior.
Mine has alloys, climate, leather steering wheel with controls, no cd changer.
Really strange as I expected Abarth to be fully loaded and as mine and the 5doors to both be dynamics I would expect to be the same.

Anyway I got mys of the jtd cluster with just 68 on the clock so hopefully can use them effectively and all interior switches so I can degunk them.
Will be getting full struts, front hubs and brake calipers and bonnet gas struts aswell.

I tried cleaning the connector between the door but still got low readings on the outside air temp so tommorow the door card will come off.
Shall be testing the clocks aswell I reckon, cleaning thermostat sensor connector to no avail.

Coupedummy. Can you get some pics of the stilo's that your friend is breaking? I'm seriously in need of some bits too, curious as to what colour the abarth is (colour code) mines Grigio steel 697 (I think)...

I've dibs the blades.lol

Now that is a fine looking stilo - pitty about the colour code tho, double checked mine and its 647 grigio steel :(

I think my next motor is going to be another stilo - preferably a JTDm in 3dr if i can find one that has low enough mileage, would also give a bollock for that interior :)

The seats are really nice to be fair and would go with the light door cards i have except this is a three door interior and ive got s multiwagon. Nice to see the rear headrests there aswell.

Ok,
Cambelt kit, water pump and aux belt in hand.
Full kit change happening on the 27th along with gearbox mount.. Hopefully soon a vibration free fiat stilo!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas.
Off to a pals tommorow set with a Fully cam belt kit, aux belt, water pump and gearbox mount for fitting.
Hooked up the car to mes with a usb adaptor to see if any faults logged.
Good stuff only one- pre heat fault which every jtd im sure has at somepoint.
Checked for water temp readout as my gauge is sporadic at best and nice steady getting up to temp.

Chinese radio has turned up aswell, Got it powered up to my jump starter kit and actually quite happy with it. Far more responsive than my android one in the bongo, quick through menus and played my video files without issue. Not hooked up to speakers yet but will review and put a video up.

Once fitted and if happy i will then look to sort steering wheel controls also if possible. Seen a steering wheel can bus kit but need to figure out harness. Something for a later date.

Egr blank also landed but i am now off till the 3rd.
I am thinking of adding another lighter socket just above the fuse board to the right of the steering wheel. Has anyone connected directly to the fuseboard. I havent checked for spare ways but location seems ideal.

You can buy a piggy back fuse holder, you would simply remove the fuse for cigar lighter, put in the holder into the fuse socket and then your fused into the holder, the holder will have an extra feed coming off it, all you need to do is hook up your second cigar socket and ground it.

Make sure fuses are correctly rated for the amount of juice you need from the feeds.

Hi dt,

That's great thank you. Just what I am after to be honest. Will be perfect for an ignition live.

Saw this on a breaker..that's certainly one way to make a fire.

Cambelt and water pump fitted- all good
Drive belt installed- found incorrect belt fitted prior giving slight belt squeal on gear change and low revs. No ac belt was fitted. Now correct.
Gearbox mount fitted- slight improvement still vibration?
Found loose drop link causing knocking.- had new so replaced and all great now. No knocks.
Fresh number plates fitted.

Things to do-
new front brake discs needed
Three tyres in near future
Tracking
Fit new dials and hopefully rectify temp gauge.

Good progress made, but gaining confidence the car is perfect for the job!

Will post some better pics soon

Jees man, who did that bodge up! Defoe one way to cause a bad fire, there are much safer methods and more professional methods that would take a couple of mins to implement, you could also tap into the stereo positive or the ignition positive with scotch clips and a spare in line fuse... few mins work and will be safer that the above!! You could even snip the acc ignition wire and fit a bullet connector to it with one end double ended and then place your fuse in line on a bullet connector to the spare acc bullet female connector, I'll try find a pic, I used this method once before and all was fine and could be put back to normal in a min or so.
