A mule more than a car but it's rear engined and rear wheel drive. They wouldn't be messing around with RWD at this stage if they hadn't committed to the layout. Due for Geneva show in March 2010 and engines will be going in to production before end of '09.
It has the potential to be the best small FIAT ever as with that setup it should be an absolute hoot to drive. The twin cylinder engine by design will rev to the sky and with a good DSG type transmission it'll be satisfying to access the power or just tootle along in traffic.
The 500 is going to feel very conventional and unexceptional beside it.
If the third and fourth seat are any way practical at all then it will eat in to 500 and Panda sales in a big way and absolutely decimate the market for the Mercedes Smart and iQ.
