General New to pandering

General New to pandering

Went down to the garage today to inspect the panda's paintwork. There was a couple imperfections but they have been flatted out or machine polished out.

Taking the day off pandering tomorrow as it's a busy day at work, and I wouldn't mind a bit of a lay in (feeling lazy).

Jobs for next week during re assembly;
.Back2black any bumpers trim and rubbers.
.Fit new rear shocks, dizzy cap, plugs, ht leads.
.Underseal the car, paint rear axle and leafs, front shocks and arms.
.Full valet inside
.Check everything works as it should and make any required adjustments.
Hopefully pass mot and go for a drive

Started putting the car back together today, it's now undersealed, new shocks, ht leads fitted. Bumpers back on and applied some auto glym bumper gel. not much left to do now.

Told a few friends I now own a 4wd vehicle. They laughed at me and said it would be a Chelsea tractor. I think I'm going to call it Chelsea. Thanks for the comments guys. It has been a fairly quick turn around, I've had a fair amount of assistance from my old man as we are on a timescale with me not having a car to get around in.

It has been very therapeutic and even my dad who dislikes older cars has caught the panda bug, he seems fairly keen to get the red one in the workshop now, hopefully I will have 2 nice pandas soon.

What do you do when you have 2 nice panda's? ......

Buy another project and have 3 nice ones?

It's like with having cats at home, "the big step" is adopting the second, and after third,it doesn't matter if there are five or eight of furry-furrs on the couch :D

All I've ever wanted to do is restore classics ( mainly Italian) and it seems like taking on projects is the best way to get to know your way around a car.
I find panda's very much like land rovers, you can put 2 identical ones together and they never drive the same.

It's nice to see I'm not the only one who likes buying cars a bit too much.

You're welcome. Feeling normal and being normal are two very different things however. :p

Yep, I did choose my words carefully!

You know you're in trouble when the easiest way of working out how many cars you've got is to look at your insurance renewal - and then discover that it's one more than you thought!!! :bang:

My dad has gone to pick up the new inner cv boot today, in fitting it first thing Monday morning putting fresh gear oil in and then taking it for mot.

How much gear oil does a 4x4 take? In the capacities section of the owners manual it says 2.4L in the transaxle. Is that meaning the gearbox?

Alex

Good news. The 4x4 passed it's mot yesterday with 1 advisory (handbrake only just passed).

I haven't really discovered any major faults. The tracking is slightly out, the electrics(lights and indicators) are a bit temperamental when the engine is started from cold. Also 3rd gear is a little crunchy. Other than that I am very pleased with it. I've drove about 40 miles in it today and I'm in love with it already :)
