The other day my 2.0 Marea started making a tapping sound when I put my foot on the accelerator. When I lift off, the tapping stops. The tapping speed is constant and very fast (ie it doesnt' speed up or slow down). It's not very loud (I only heard it because I muted the radio).
The car's done 79k miles, and the cam belt was changed at 72k.
Does anybody have any ideas? Fuel pump? (I only say that because it sounds like the one that konked out on my Morris Minor some years back).
