With plugs removed, there are 4 small Philips head screws to be unscrewed
,the two bottom screws are shown, the top ones are still behind their plugs

The bracket cover then lifts off

The sliding clamp then can be lifted off the springs by carefully sliding it upwards leaving the bracket looking like this (sorry is on its side, I can't see how to rotate the uploaded image)

The tomtom on the bracket cover (unscrewed front plate) awaiting magnet fitting (sorry, image on its side again)

This is the rear of the bracket to which the front plate will be refastened with original screws and blanking plugs after I've fitted the magnet between the two screws on the front plate (sorry, now image is upside down) Will post more pics (hopefully right way up) when have received and fitted magnet. Hope this has been helpful.

Magnet arrived 25mm x 5mm N35 from directsunglassesuk £2.49 inc postage

Fits in perfectly into semi circular plastic moulding in front plate without modification:

After spot of epoxy to secure magnet in place:

Reassembled with a piece of scrap plastic to cover the gap at the top. Removing this enables the bracket to be restored to its original form.

I'm still happily using my TomTom GO 500, so I haven't done the mod yet!

Sorry for bringing up an old thread. I have been using this for a year and a half on my Go 5000 and it works well but it seems to just not get enough power some of the time. Does this happen to anyone else or should I order a new mount?

For example, when driving along it pops up saying no battery and force shuts down. There is also never a 'charge' on the device, the mount seems to keep it on the brink.

I know it's an obvious one but is the mount fully inserted until it locks in? I recall one user had an issue with this a couple of years ago.

If rechargeable it's possible the battery has prematurely failed?
Also most in car usb ports don't supply enough power often its usb standard 0.5A rather than the 2+amps lots of gadgets with big screens need ?
